Don't Ever Settle for Less than You Deserve

You wake up in the morning. Your routine almost automatic. You take out the trash. Put in a load of laundry. Wash the dishes. Wake up the kids. Take them to school. Then you head off to this place called work, where you grind day in and day out just so you can take home a paycheck that’s already been spent.

The rat race starts all over again the next day, and the day after that. In the meantime, you daydream – fantasizing about the day you can get yourself out of this hole you’ve dug yourself deep in. But you’re so far in, you can’t move.

You continue. Convincing yourself that this is the way. This is what people do. You are part of the majority, you tell yourself. It’s a story that resonates. We’re all part of the circus. We tell ourselves we can’t really do what we LOVE. We can’t really pursue our passion. We have bills to pay. We have mouths to feed. No, not me. Not now. Maybe next year. Your self doubt grows year by year. The tumor so big it debilitates you.

What I’ve learned is that we tell ourselves “we can’t” more often than we tell ourselves “we can.”

You search your soul, read motivational books, blogs, articles, videos…you confess to your friends, all in hopes that something or someone will make it click for you.

Guess what? The only person who can make it click is YOU. It’s time to take some responsibility. Nobody made you take that job, nobody made you choose that path in life…you made those decisions. Sure there are factors. Sure things happened. But somewhere along the way, you forgot to pick yourself back up. You forgot about the most important person: YOU.

Don’t wait any longer. If you’ve been waiting, you’ve only been wasting time. You know that degree you always wanted to get? Don’t wait any longer. You know that hobby you wanted to pursue …it may be painting, biking – whatever it is: don’t wait any longer.

Soon enough you’ll be waiting so long, you’ll have run out of time.
