What is the secret to being smart, sexy and strong? There are so many opinions on how to achieve the trio – the triple threat, the superwoman – the shero. I think the 3 S’s depend on what your definition of smart, sexy and strong is. When Dr. Trevor Cates, a naturopathic physician out of Park City, Utah asked me to be a special guest on her show, The Spa Dr., I was humbled and a little nervous …
“What could I possibly share – what wisdom did I have – any more than any other woman out there listening – that they could benefit from?”
Pump the brakes. That thought pattern reminded me of another blog Positive Self Talk I wrote, where I preached about how women don’t give themselves enough credit – for hardly anything.
Here I was – doing it all over again, to myself. If I am going to tell women that we deserve and have earned the praise – for whatever it is that we do – then darn it, we need to proudly start taking credit for it without fear of being perceived a certain way.
Dr. Cates is someone I consider a friend, and has – over the years – shared her wisdom with me personally and the viewers. She was probably the first woman to guide me to a different way of thinking when it came to naturopathic health. Today, I am a strong believer in researching and applying a different approach to my health. While I applaud the many advances modern medicine have contributed to curing ailments – and recognize its continued value to this world …I think there’s a special place for the healing power of nature.
Check out The Spa Dr.’s latest Podcast, featuring me – where I reveal my own “secrets” to being smart, sexy and strong! We also chat about what it’s like for me – as a woman in media.
As a woman in media, she knows first hand the pressures of conforming to unrealistic societal ideals. She says, “it’s important to let women know that if we support each other, we can be and do anything. However only we, collectively have the power to change how the world sees us and treats us.”
As always, thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think of the podcast!
